Information collected:
Per IC 21-18, the Commission for Higher Education (hereinafter referred to as CHE) oversees the coordination, evaluation, and implementation of programs related to postsecondary education in the State of Indiana. MyCollegeCore.org enables you to create your plan of college-level credit you will take in high school to make up the Indiana College Core, a block of 30 credit hours of general education, college-level coursework which is guaranteed to transfer between all Indiana public colleges and universities.
Analytics
MyCollegeCore.org uses Google Analytics and automatically collects the following analytics when you browse our site:
- Internet Protocol (IP) address
- Browser type and language
- Operating system
- Date and time of visit
- Pages visited
- Links clicked
- Referring web page
- Aggregated data related to your demographics and interests
MyCollegeCore.org does not associate this data to individual user identities.
User-volunteered information
In addition to the browser information collected from visitors to the site, personal information is collected and stored only when users provide it voluntarily. For example, if you use the My College Core planning tool, you will submit information to set-up an account, complete and save your plan, and share your plan with others (optional.) The information collected as part of the My College Core Plan set-up and utilization may include the following:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
- Name of High School
- Credits complete
- AP Exam Scores
Use of the My College Core Plan tool is voluntary. You will always have the option of whether to provide this information using MyCollegeCore.org.
Use of collected information:
All uses of information, whether the information is collected automatically or provided voluntarily, are in accordance with the Indiana Fair Information Practices Act.
- MyCollegeCore.org uses the information automatically collected from your browser to enable the efficient operation of the website, to enhance the ease of use of the website, and to gather statistics on how you use the website.
- MyCollegeCore.org uses any information you voluntarily provide to provide services requested, to respond to inquiries, and improve our services.
- Information collected may also be used for statistical analysis related to the Indiana College Core program to measure effectiveness and improve outcomes.
- MyCollegeCore.org itself does not use collected information for marketing purposes; however, we may use information collected on our site to send direct communications to users who provide contact information.
Distribution of collected information:
- MyCollegeCore.org enables users to share information provided to MyCollegeCore.org with their school counselor; this sharing is optional.
- Otherwise, MyCollegeCore.org will only send personal information about you to other government agencies, individuals, or organizations when:
- We have your consent to share the information;
- Your inquiry relates to another state agency and we need to share information with that agency to fulfill your request;
- We need to share your information to provide the product or service you have requested.
- We need to send the information to organizations who work on behalf of MyCollegeCore.org to provide a product or service to you. (Unless we tell you differently, these organizations do not have any right to use the personal information we provide to them beyond what is necessary to assist us);
- We are authorized to do so by law, subpoena, court order, or legal process; or
- MyCollegeCore.org will not distribute or sell personal information to third-party organizations unless records are authorized for sale under law.
Retention of Collected Information:
- The State of Indiana government is required to maintain many government records under the Indiana Archives and Records Act for archival and historical purposes.
- When you provide personal information through MyCollegeCore.org, such information is handled as it would be in an in-person transaction in a government office, and is subject to the laws, regulations, practices, and procedures of the respective agency.
- Some governmental agencies may already have, or may acquire, personal information through the normal functions of government. Indiana law governs the use of and access to this information under the Indiana Fair Information Practices Act and the Indiana Access to Public Records Act.
User choices:
- You can request access to your personal information or request that we delete your account by contacting us. Please understand that, although we can delete your account online, the Indiana Archives and Records Act may require us to maintain information about your account for a period of years.
- You can request correction of inaccuracies in your personal information.
- As noted in the Analytics section of this notice, MyCollegeCore.org uses Google Analytics to collect browser data to improve our products, services, and sites. While Google Analytics data does not contain directly identifiable information, you may opt out of all Google Analytics data collection by clicking here and following Google’s instructions.
Security:
- MyCollegeCore.org is committed to ensuring the integrity of the information and systems it maintains. As such, MyCollegeCore.org has instituted security measures for all information systems under its control in a best effort to ensure that information will not be lost, misused, or altered.
- For site security purposes, and to ensure that our Internet services remain available to all users, MyCollegeCore.org uses software programs to monitor traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or otherwise harm the integrity of MyCollegeCore.org. In the event of authorized law enforcement investigations and pursuant to any required legal process, information from these sources may be used to aid in the identification of an individual.

- MyCollegeCore.org is committed to the protection of children’s online privacy and complies with the
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which governs information gathered online from or about children under the age of 13.
- MyCollegeCore.org is not directed to children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
- MyCollegeCore.org does not sell products or services for purchase by children. IN.gov specifically asks children to get a parent’s or guardian’s permission before providing any information online.
- In the event children unknowingly provide information through MyCollegeCore.org, it is only used to enable us to respond to the writer.
